CORE LENS TYPES

Understand the role of each option.

These are broad categories, not a personalised recommendation. Exact lens design, material, coating and commercial options depend on your prescription and selected frame.

01

Single vision

One prescription power across the primary viewing area. Commonly used when one main viewing distance needs correction.

Best discussed with:

Prescription, usual viewing distance and frame choice.

02

Progressive

Multiple viewing zones within one lens, intended to support different distances without a visible segment line.

Best discussed with:

Prescription, frame dimensions, fitting measurements and adaptation expectations.

03

Reading / near-use

Lens setups intended around near tasks. The appropriate power and working distance should be based on the wearer’s actual needs.

Best discussed with:

Reading distance, prescription and other visual requirements.

04

Zero-power options

Non-prescription lenses may be considered for certain frame, tint or coating preferences, depending on the product.

Best discussed with:

Intended use and the exact lens feature requested.

LENS FEATURES

Features can change comfort, appearance and use—but claims should stay product-specific.

Anti-reflective

Designed to reduce certain lens-surface reflections. Performance varies by coating and conditions.

Photochromic

Lenses that change tint in response to light/UV conditions. Activation and darkness vary by product and environment.

Screen-use / filter options

Some lenses include filtering or coating features marketed for screen-heavy routines. They should not be treated as a guaranteed solution for eye strain.

Tints and sun options

Available tint, darkness and sun-lens features depend on the specific lens product and intended use.

BEFORE YOU ORDER

Four inputs matter more than a feature name.

  1. 01

    Your prescription

Lens power and design must be compatible with the prescription being filled.

  2. 02

    Your frame

Frame size, shape and how it sits on the face can affect lens design and fitting decisions.

  3. 03

    Your working distances

Driving, desk work, reading and mixed-distance routines place different demands on vision.

  4. 04

    Measurements and final fitting

Some lens designs require accurate fitting measurements. Final suitability is confirmed in store.

IMPORTANT BOUNDARY

Lens information is not a diagnosis.

This page explains common lens categories and store workflow. It does not diagnose symptoms, prescribe treatment or replace an appropriate eye examination. If you have sudden, severe or persistent vision concerns, seek assessment from a qualified eye-care professional.

LENS FAQs

Common questions before choosing.

How do I know which lens type I need?

The right lens setup depends on your prescription, viewing distances, frame choice and daily routine. Bring a current prescription if available so the store can review practical options with you.

What are single-vision lenses?

Single-vision lenses use one prescription power across the main viewing area and are commonly used for one primary viewing need such as distance or near vision.

What are progressive lenses?

Progressive lenses combine multiple viewing zones within one lens. Suitability depends on the prescription, frame dimensions, fitting measurements and wearer needs.

Do anti-reflective coatings remove all glare?

No. Anti-reflective treatments are designed to reduce certain surface reflections, but performance varies by product and they do not eliminate every source of glare.

Do photochromic lenses replace sunglasses in every situation?

Not necessarily. Photochromic behaviour varies by product and environment, including how much UV reaches the lens. Ask the store about the specific product and your intended use.

Are screen-use or blue-filter lens options guaranteed to prevent eye strain?

No. Screen discomfort can have many causes. Lens features may be discussed as one option, but they are not a guaranteed treatment or substitute for an appropriate vision assessment.
